This treatment approach is to intercept and prevent a developing bite problem. Treatment may involve a rapid palatal expander, braces or functional appliances (bionator) to correct the bite or other alignment.
This is also called a phase one treatment. Some children will only need a phase one treatment, however most may need a phase 2 treatment. Some examples of the bites that need phase one include: protruding front teeth, underbite, anterior and posterior crossbite. Crowded teeth, spacing and speech issues. It is a fact that a beautiful smile at an early age improves the child’s self confidence.
